Short Term Visa Pass STVP

Applicants from the following countries require a Short-Term Visa Pass (STVP) upon arrival in Malaysia:

  • Afghanistan
  • Congo Democratic
  • Mali
  • Angola
  • Congo Republic
  • Mozambique
  • Bangladesh
  • Côte D’Ivoire
  • Myanmar
  • Bhutan
  • Djibouti
  • Nepal
  • Burkina Faso
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Niger
  • Burundi
  • Eritrea
  • Pakistan
  • Cameroon
  • Ethiopia
  • Rwanda
  • Central African Republic
  • Ghana
  • Serbia
  • China
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Montenegro
  • Colombia
  • Hong Kong
  • Sri Lanka
  • Comoros
  • India
  • United Nations (Laissez Passer)
  • Liberia
  • Western Sahara

Alternatively, applicants travelling from a Malaysian visa-exempt country will still need to request a STVP.

STVP are required if the applicant is travelling to Malaysia for the following reasons:

  •  Social Visit
  • Researching Investment Opportunities
  • Tourism
  • To Undergo An Examination
  • Journalist/reporter
  • Students on a goodwill mission
  • To attend a business meeting/discussion
  • Participating in a sporting competition
  • To attend a seminar/conference
  • To carry out any other activity approved by the Director of General Immigration
  • To sign an agreement

It’s important to emphasize that an STVP (Short Term Visit Pass) doesn’t permit the holder to engage in any work or employment while in Malaysia. Additionally, STVP holders aren’t eligible for extensions except in cases of extreme circumstances like illness or accidents.
